One can get admission into the university to study nursing through direct entry. Direct Entry is primarily for those who already hold a diploma certificate and wish to pursue a degree program at a university. Those who were admitted to university through direct entry will typically begin at the 200 level in their university of choice, assuming they were offered admission.
Admission through direct entry has been a popular route of choice for many students especially those who studied nursing first in a school of nursing institution.
Direct Entry Requirements for Nursing
Below, these are the requirements to study Nursing via Direct Entry for Direct Entry (DE) Candidates
- Must be Registered Nurses (RN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Must have passed the Advanced level General Certificate of Education (GCE) in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in no more than two sittings are also eligible to apply.
- Must have completed the O’ level requirements of five credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, in no more than two sittings, and to have passed the university screening test.
After admission, DE candidates admitted to the four-year program may be required to take specific courses to make up for deficiencies in their academic background, if applicable.
