    Geology is a course taught at the undergraduate level in Nigerian universities.     Geology as a Profession in Nigeria

    Geology is a profession in Nigeria that offers a variety of career opportunities. Geologists in Nigeria work in a variety of industries, including mining, oil and gas exploration, environmental consulting, water resource management, and others.

    In Nigeria, geologists work in academia, research, and government agencies. They are also able to work in non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and private consulting firms.

    A degree in geology from a recognized university is usually required to work as a geologist in Nigeria. A postgraduate degree or professional registration may also be required by some organizations. It should be noted that the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences (NIMG) governs the practice of geology in Nigeria, and membership is required to work as a geologist in Nigeria.

    Geology is the scientific study of the Earth, including its structure, properties, processes, and history. It involves the examination of rocks, minerals, fossils, and landforms, as well as the study of plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes, and other geologic phenomena. A degree in geology typically includes coursework in a variety of subfields, including mineralogy, petrology, paleontology, structural geology, and environmental geology. Graduates of geology programs may go on to work in a variety of fields, including the oil and gas industry, environmental consulting, and government agencies.

    The approved WAEC subjects’ combination for Geology include subjects such as.

    • Mathematics
    • English
    • Geography
    • Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Biology

    That means for your chances to get admission into an institution that offers Geology, one has to make sure in WAEC that he/she gets at least a C6 in English, Mathematics and any three (3) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Geography Other additional subjects that the candidate can write include Biology, Fishery, Yoruba, Government, Commerce, Civic Education, Igbo, Accounting, Hausa and others.
